Rev. David H. Locklair was born in Boise, Idaho in 1985. Shortly thereafter, his family moved to the city of Milwaukee, WI where Pastor Locklair was raised. He was homeschooled through high school and then attended Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, WI.
At Concordia, he met his future wife, Kallie (nee Sprengeler). They were married in December 2006. Pastor Locklair graduated summa cum laude in May 2007 with a B.A. in Theology and a minor in Theological Languages. Kallie also graduated in May 2007 with a B.A. in Psychology.
Pastor Locklair was accepted to Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary in Mankato, MN and began studies in the fall of 2007. He served his vicar year at Grace Lutheran Church in Vero Beach, FL. He graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in June of 2011.
In July of 2011, he received the assignment and Call to serve as Pastor of Richland Lutheran Church in Thornton, IA. In May of 2013, Richland became a dual parish with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (WELS) in Mason City, IA. In August of 2014, Pastor Locklair accepted the Call to serve as Associate Pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church, School, and Early Learning Center in Port Orchard, WA. In October of 2018, he accepted the Call to serve as Pastor of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, IN.
Pastor and Kallie brought their first son, Jahleel (7), home from Hong Kong in the spring of 2014. They brought their second son, Camden (5), home from China in the spring of 2017. Their third son, Peyton (1), was born in Tacoma, WA in January of 2018. Jackie the beagle joined Pastor and Kallie on Reformation Day of 2012.
In his free time, Pastor Locklair enjoys sports, superheroes, and reading. He is a die-hard Indianapolis Colts fan (Kallie is a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan). He is also a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks, Anaheim Ducks, and Boise State Broncos. He has an affinity for superheroes and reviews superhero films for the Christ in Media Institute, an educational arm of Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN. He enjoys reading theological books, especially those in the field of dogmatics.
The Locklairs are enjoying getting to know the community of Portage and look forward to serving the people of NW Indiana.
